Abstract
Objective: This study aims to examine the effects that both self-efficacy and human rights sensitivity have on thehealth condition of stroke survivors.

Methods: Self-reported questionnaires were administered to 150 adult stroke survivors who were admitted to orattended regularly rehabilitation hospitals located in the Daejeon area. Self-efficacy, human rights sensitivity, andhealth condition were measured using the general self-efficacy scale, Indicators of Psychological Scale for HumanRights Sensitivity, and WHODAS 2.0, respectively. In this study, a hierarchical regression analysis was conductedto elucidate the causation among variables, and after an analysis, the correlations among them.

Results: The explanatory power for all hierarchical regression models was 18%, and a significant variable affectinghealth condition was understanding and communication, which is one of the sub-factors of self-efficacy. Althoughthe sub-factors of human rights sensitivity had no significant explanatory power in terms of health condition, eachsub-factor of the former factor had some correlations with health condition, including understanding andcommunication, getting along with people, and participation in society.

Conclusion: The self-efficacy of stroke survivors was a factor influencing their health condition, and among thesub-factors, confidence in particular had a significant effect. Although human rights sensitivity had no effect onhealth condition, there were correlations between some of the sub-factors. Both factors should thus be consideredto establish effective psychological/social intervention strategies for stroke survivors.
